Amsterdam: Buildings

Central Station

Built 1882 - 1889
Designed by P. J. H. Cuypers and A. L. van Gendt

The tops of the buildings are as interesting as the street level.

The cranes were originally used for unloading ships from the canals, and hoisting the goods up to higher floors in the warehouses. Now they are used to help residents move furniture in and out.
